Anatomy

Here's a dictionary of ANATOMICAL terms that you might come across during your studies...


Calcaneus: heel bone

Enteral: passing through the intestine

Hock: joint between knee and fetlock in quadrupeds which has a backwards angle (between tibia and tarsal bones)


Opthalmic: relating to the eye

Suture: structures used to pull skin together in stitches after being opened up from a wound or surgery. Verb: to stitch up a wound or surgical incision with a suture.



Vestibular system: sensory system for sense of balance and spatial orientation. Includes parts of inner ear and brain controlling balance/eye movements.
