Hi! Thanks for visiting Vet Bites!

Let me introduce myself... I’m half-Mexican and half-Japanese and was born in Australia. I’m currently 19 years old studying veterinary science at the University of Sydney. I’ve just completed two years of uni and am on the cusp of entering my first year of vet school in 2020.

Growing up, I always had an immense fascination for the animal kingdom and dreamed of becoming a vet. It wasn’t until a few semesters into university that I realised working in the zoo/wildlife veterinary and conservation fields was my biggest ambition. However, I also harbour great interests in holistic medicine, animal nutrition, behaviour, and of course, dog care!

I hope to one day treat and rehabilitate injured pets and wildlife, educate the community on animal health and welfare, as well as raise awareness of climate change, it’s implications on wildlife and habitat preservation, and how we can all work towards being more environmentally conscious citizens living in harmony with animals and the natural gifts earth has to offer us!

On this blog, I hope to share with you bite-sized info on all things vet-related! If you ever feel uncertain or overwhelmed with vet school, trust me, I know exactly how you feel! I battle with this feeling every day; it’s what inspired me to create this blog to share my experiences and try and break down veterinary content into bite-sized, digestible pieces that will hopefully make study just that little bit easier!

I live by the philosophy that if you keep learning from your failures, you can never really lose. Remember, the secret to never failing is to learn. You either win or you learn.

Aside from vet, my interests also lie in blogging, 60s 70s and 80s music and fashion, French and Italian pop, second-hand and vintage clothing, watching ballet, creating retro-themed photoshoots, exploring plant-based recipes, and learning about animal behaviour!

Whether you’re just curious about what goes on in vet school, or are aspiring to land into the veterinary industry, I hope you find some helpful info on this site!
